Chapter 2- The Test
Wednesday, May 21
6:00PM I've been practicing for my driving test that I'm taking tomorrow. I can't believe that my license is finally just around the corner! I had to put gas in the van again and I told my dad that I'd even put the gas cap back on. Then I closed the door and forgot to pop the lid open. After I got the gas, I went down Route 30 and had someone beeping at me. Then I realized- I forgot to put the cap on again! At least there's no gas stations on the driving test or I'd fail.

8:30AM This is the big day. After two months of ditches, curbs, and many other problems, I can finally get my driver's license! I ran through the area that I would be driving in a few times. Unfortunately, my examiner didn't seem very friendly. I didn't let that bother me, though. Even when we went to a place where I didn't practice, I was still doing all right. Finally, I pulled into the parking space effortlessly and felt more confident than I expected. I remembered the last thing that I heard from Shawn before I left for the test- "You're gonna fail!" Ha! I'll show him! I waited impatiently for the verdict...
He said that I failed! I couldn't believe it! He said that I stopped two car-lengths past a stop sign. He didn't even tell me which one. I had to go back to school disgraced.

1:00PM I drove my dad to Greensburg to show him the roads I had to drive through for my test. We looked for the stop sign that I messed up on. There was no way that I could have been that far away from any stop sign without being past the entire intersection. I'll have to try again, hopefully with a nicer examiner.

5:00PM My van got wrecked and it wasn't me! My dad takes it to work everyday since I don't use it- yet. Some idiot parked right beside him and he didn't have any room to pull out. Now the front corner is smashed up. Once I get my license, everyone will think it was me that did it.
Tuesday, June 10
8:30AM I decided to try for my driving test again. I was even more nervous than I was the first time because I was afraid of getting the same examiner. I waited for my turn and someone came up to me and asked if I was taking my test. I was thinking "Yes, yes! Take me!" He was much nicer than the last one I had. I tried pulling out of the parking space and forgot to take the emergency brakes off! I thought, oh no, I failed already! As I was driving, the examiner asked what I did wrong the last time and when I told him he said, "Is that all?" I agreed. Well, I made it back OK, but I didn't do as well as I did the last time. He said that I passed. "I passed?" I asked him. He probably thought I was insane.
10:00AM
I only had my license for an hour, and I have to drive alone already. My dad let me drive my van from the shop (he wrecked it the week before.) I did OK, but it felt pretty weird. When I got home, my mom told me someone called and said that I wasn't excused from band. Too late. What really ticks me off is that they let people come late everyday for driving classes.
